Biography

Andrew Meikle’s professional career began in 1988 when he was one of only 12 contracted athletes in the original Uncle Toby’s Ironman Series. Whilst he enjoyed considerable success as an ironman – consistently placing in the top 10 – the podium proved mostly elusive. And so began a quest to understand fully the dynamics of human high performance and what sets the highest achievers apart.

Andrew’s research began in the obvious place – amongst those within the Ironman world who were consistently placing in the top three – The Meikle Files databank now comprises research and interviews with high achievers in the fields of sport, science, medicine, academia, the arts, politics, the military and even faith; including such people as: Everest Mountaineer - Sir Edmund Hilary; Leader - Nelson Mandela (in conjunction with Centre for the Mind); Olympic Medallist Athlete - Carl Lewis; Evolutionary Biologist - Dr Richard Dawkins; Japanese Samurai Master - Nishioka Sensei; Commanding Officer British Army - General Patrick Cordingley; World Champion Surfer - Layne Beachley; Ethernet Developer - Bob Metcalf; Nobel Peace Laureate - Dr Shirin Ebadi; Chief of the Australian Defence Force - General Peter Cosgrove; Zen Master - Kitabu Turner; and leading CEO’s.

For over a decade the research has continued and evolved to include not just individual high achievers but ‘high performance environments’ – those places or events where the very best are stretched to their limits. Andrew’s associated companies have been studying the Juilliard School in New York, the Australian Institute of Sport, the English National Ballet, Royal College of Music in London, Harvard Business School, The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Japanese Samurai Masters, leading Scientific teams, NASA’s Phoenix Mars Mission, and the British Royal Opera House and many more.

The end result is a bank of research containing over 7,000 subjects – unique achievers from all walks of life.

Andrew is a Visiting Fellow with the Centre for The Mind, a national think-tank investigating the emotional DNA of mentally and physically gifted individuals based at Sydney University.

Andrew is married with two young children and lives in Sydney.
